Wow. You've certainly had a lot of bad experiences with these types of men online. You do seem to have a very mesmiring quality about you that draws a lot of guys to develop an attachment at first sight. Think this probably goes beyond looks alone and to your personality (maybe even some aura or magnetism you just naturally give off without noticing it).

It's a scary world for sure. Even as a man, I've encountered a few deranged types whove gone so far as to get my number (and even my cancer-stricken mom's number somehow) and call up to insult and threaten us both. It's a jarring experience, especially if you're not used to that type of thing.

Letting the authorities solve the problem is the best idea. They can address any illegal activities, and even if they don’t find any the offender gets a clear message.

Female stalkers operate completely differently, they don't contact you, they plan for months even years to try to get proximity to you. They'll go to all the events you do, ingratiate themselves into your social circle, they'll befriend your mom. And happen to like all the things you like, memorizing every interaction and your social medias. It's all to engineer a situation where you 'pursue' them. I'm unsure they're even more rare than male stalkers because they won't make themselves known, or are more successful, unless they snap and attack one of your female friends or crash out in desperation like mine.

Male loneliness is not on the rise as much as both genders are just interacting in person less. Also men are more adapted to being alone. Transmen often breakdown, due to not having the psychology to or being used to having fewer connections.

I don't know if they are the norm, for sure the internet enormously increases your exposure surface. Having teen daughters made me realize how life can be hard for young women. Unfortunately, I had to step in in a few situations in Milan. A support network, and not being alone is surely important, in particular because situations can be obviously dangerous well before the threshold for police action is reached.
